So I thought I would report back following my last post and let you know the outcome of my college interview. I am so excited to say that I have been accepted on the Level 3 Complimentary Therapy Course and will be studying anatomy and physiology, aromatherapy, massage, reflexology. So this is all to say how following your dreams can get you your heart’s desire. You just need to get out of your comfort zone and take that step forward and believe.
When Will I Graduate?
I will be finishing this course in July. It is quite an intense one as it is a years course squashed into six months so a lot of studdying is on the cards. I am not expecting it to be easy as I have fibromyalgia but the college is aware and will be there to help when I need it.
What Will I Do After I Graduate?
Well, a good question and the answer is more courses. I want to develop in aromatherapy and be able to make my own products. I will also be attending end of life treatment therapy courses at my local hospital. There are also some more holistic short courses I would like to do at college also during the Summer.
So all in all alongside setting up as a Reiki practitioner it’s going to be a very eventful and productive year and I can’t wait.
My New Work Top
Today my new Reiki treatment top has arrived along with my price list flyers and I love them.
I hope you are all getting ready for Christmas and will post again very soon.
Using Reiki to Enhance Your Love Life – Just in Time for Valentine’s Day!
A dozen red roses or box of premium chocolates may work to spruce up your love life on Valentine’s Day, particularly if they’re really good chocolates. But there’s something even more effective for enhancing your relationships every single day of the year. That something is Reiki.
The ancient Japanese healing method of Reiki can be used to improve just about any aspect of your life, from physical ailments to mental anguish to spiritual fatigue. And a regular Reiki practice can give your body, mind and spirit the balance and energy they need to be your best self – which gives you the foundation for being the best partner in a loving relationship.
Reiki Helps Deepen Connection
Reiki can be a healing and fortifying force in personal relationships, mainly because it can open up your capacity to love. It can also do wonders for your capacity for empathy. Put the two together and you can become much more deeply connected to your partner.
An increase in empathy can additionally play a role in communication, which is one of the key ingredients for a successful relationship. When you’re better able to understand your partner’s point of view, you’ll more easily be able to:
Relate to his or her position (even if yours is still right 🙂 )
Compromise, providing a solution that suits you both
Diffuse petty tiffs before they turn into no-holds-barred fights
Comprehend and provide for his or her needs
Providing for someone’s needs doesn’t mean waiting on him or her hand and foot, either. It simply means you’ll have insight into when your partner may need some quiet time, a listening ear, a hug – whatever it is that can help any given situation or mood.
Respect is another key ingredient for healthy relationships, and your increased capacity for love and empathy can naturally produce it. When loved ones begin to notice their partners are showing more love, empathy and respect toward them, they frequently begin to mirror the behavior and automatically do the same.
Reiki Smooths Out the Edges
While love, empathy and respect are at the core of every successful relationship, there are several other factors that can influence your ability to give or receive any of the above on a daily basis. These can include stress, anxiety, emotional wounds and emotional imbalances. When you’re suffering from such factors, your relationships can suffer, as well. Once again, however, Reiki can come to the rescue for its ability to:
Reduce stress and increase relaxation
Boost your mood, thereby decreasing anxiety as well as depression, confusion and anger
Help heal emotional and mental wounds from past relationships – or even last night’s argument
Create inner harmony, peace and a balanced state of body and mind
When you’re graced with your own inner peace, harmony and balance, you’re more easily able to extend the same to your relationships. Combine this with your reduced stress and anxiety, healing, and an increased capacity for empathy and love, and Reiki beats out chocolate big time for enhancing your connection to your loved one on Valentine’s or any time.
Today I had the pleasure of meeting Simon and his partner, the proprietors of Horizon Tanning & Beauty in Harrogate. It is a fantastic little salon and offers nail treatments, massage therapies, tanning, facials, brows and lashes, waxing, but the difference is they are at affordable prices. Something you don’t see very often in this industry and particularly in Harrogate.
Mind, Body and Spirit
I have believed for a very long time that you should treat the body as a whole to include the mind, body and spirit. Reiki is excellent for this. It is a very gentle and relaxing therapy which can be used to aid relaxation, reduce stress, and ease pain. The energy passes through the practitioner into the client which initiates the body’s natural healing processes to restore physical and emotional well-being.
What does Reiki do?
Life force energy flows within the physical body through pathways called chakras. This diminishes the vital function of the organs and cells of the physical body. Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy.

So yesterday was my first day back at school or should I say college. I will be honest with you I was nervous but I was also very excited. As it turned out there was no need to be nervous I absolutely loved it. The other students in my group are fantastic and the tutors were amazing, funny, extremely knowledgeable and very approachable. So day one of level 3 complementary therapies – bring it on!
Never Too Old
The day started off with a coffee and a chat getting to know the other students in my group. A good mix of ages and personalities. We started off with a lesson on anatomy and physiology. I was volunteered as the human skeleton and everyone had to stick labels on me identifying different bones. Had a hilarious time with that one!
I knew from the start this was going to be an intensive course and I know the knowledge that will be gained is going to be incredible and worth every second. I have always believed in the body needs to be healed on a physical and emotional level. One without the other is just out of balance in my mind. Our bodies are capable of some amazingly incredible things and we need to focus on ourselves as a “whole”.
Before lunch, we all set up a treatment couch ready for the afternoon session. We were put into pairs and did a consultation on each other and then after lunch we did our first massage under supervision.
Obviously, it was fabulous to receive a massage but giving one too was really enjoyable. It’s a great feeling to know that something you are doing is making someone feel good and relaxed. My partner gave me some brilliant feedback which I was really pleased with and am now looking forward to next week to do it all again.
I guess one thing I want to put across is not about the importance of relaxation, etc but you are never too old to learn new things and to follow your dreams. The only person that stops you moving on is yourself.
Recently when I was arranging a Reiki appointment for someone I was asked if I did massage too. Sadly, I had to say no I didn’t but it got me thinking that maybe I should be able to give this service as I know it will be so beneficial for people to be able to have a combination of therapies by just one person. So now I am intending to do some complemantary therapy training.
I knew of a fantastic college locally as my daughter did her training there for the beauty industry. I contacted them yesterday and I will be seeing them tomorrow to go through all my options with a view to starting in January 2019.
Complementary Therapy Training
I am intending to do a level 3 in complementary therapy which will include, aromatherapy, advanced massage, reflexology. Also, I will be topping this up with Indian head massage, stress massage, lymphatic drainage massage, on-site massage, stone therapy, meridian therapy, crystal therapy, chakra balancing and auric healing and thermo auricular therapy obviously alongside the Reiki.
So hopefully the next blog post I will have some good news following my interview with the college tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
It is so important to treat the body as a whole. The body – the mind – the spirit.
If you have not tried hot stone therapy you must. My daughter had to practice on me and it is the most wonderful massage and I will be so excited to be able to do this.
I will let you know how I get on at the college tomorrow.
It has been a labour of love but I have finally got there. This website is purely for my Reiki and holistic practices. I just wanted to keep it separate from my main blog as it was starting to feel a bit crowded and all over the place with so many things going on.
I will run the two blogs side by side and put in links where necessary. This way you have a choice whether to follow this holistic blog or my other health and diet-related blog or if you wish both.
I hope you find it helpful and I am looking forward to writing about some interesting aspects of health, wellness and spiritual matters.
So, thank you for reading and please feel free to sign up to my newsletter to keep you up to date with new features, competitions, giveaways etc.
